Antimicrobial Stewardship Center

Antimicrobial Stewardship Center

Background

Due to increasing antimicrobial resistance across both community and institutional settings, there has been increased costs and confusion relative to appropriate antimicrobial utilization and treatment pathways. There continues to be increasing news relative to the current antibiotic crisis. We are quickly exhausting our foundation of efficacious products and therapies to treat traditional organisms and emerging superbugs.  The need to address these issues has created emerging regulatory, payor and accreditation pressures not seen before.

Mission

To promote the development of a specialized community of healthcare professionals and foster the implementation of more effective strategies in order to optimize treatment strategies, improve health outcomes, and curtail antimicrobial resistance.

To advocate for specialty education program development, which incorporates cross-collaborative health information systems.  These developments will capitalize upon the knowledge and talents of vested stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, health systems, and healthcare companies in order to ensure the development of effective solutions.
